While working as an accessories editor at Mademoiselle, Kate Spade was frustrated that she couldn't find the fashionable, utilitarian handbag she'd been wanting for years, so she set out to design the perfect one out of her apartment. The rest, as they say, is history. Launched in 1993, the Kate Spade brand stands for optimistic femininity, and values thoughtful details in its designs.
